合唱団の紹介 (Introduction)

2019年演奏会　G.F.ヘンデル「メサイア」

宗研合唱団は1947年遠山信二氏によって創設された「宗教音楽研究会」が前身です。

1999年指導者に大島博氏・中巻寛子氏をお迎えし「宗研合唱団」として新たにスタート、現在は大島博氏の下でバッハをはじめとしたバロック期のドイツ・プロテスタント教会音楽をレパートリーの中心として活動しています。

近年は、バッハのカンタータ、モテットなどを組み合わせたプログラムと大曲の演奏を交互に行っており、2009年のJ.S.バッハ《ヨハネ受難曲》を皮切りに《クリスマス・オラトリオ》《ミサ曲　ロ短調》《マタイ受難曲》、ヘンデル《メサイア》を演奏、2022年には《ヨハネ受難曲》、2024年には《ミサ曲 ロ短調》を再び演奏しました。

また2004年、07年、10年、15年と4度にわたりドイツ演奏旅行を行い、これまでにアイゼナハ、ライプツィヒ、ヴァイマル、ヴィッテンベルクで演奏会を催しました。2015年8月の演奏旅行ではバッハの生地アイゼナハの聖ゲオルク教会で演奏会を行い、カンタータ礼拝に聖歌隊としても参加、ライプツィヒ聖トーマス教会では単独演奏会を開き好評を得ました。

The Shuken Chorus traces its origins to the “Society for Sacred Music Studies,” founded in 1947 by Shinji Toyama. In 1999, under the direction of Hiroshi Oshima and Hiroko Nakamaki, the ensemble was newly established as the “Shuken Chorus.” Today, under the leadership of Hiroshi Oshima, the choir focuses primarily on German Protestant church music of the Baroque era, especially the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

In recent years, the choir has alternated between programs featuring combinations of Bach cantatas and motets and performances of large-scale masterpieces. Beginning with J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion in 2009, the ensemble has performed the Christmas Oratorio, Mass in B Minor, and St. Matthew Passion, as well as Handel’s Messiah. More recently, the choir revisited Bach’s St. John Passion in 2022 and the Mass in B Minor in 2024.

The choir has also undertaken four concert tours in Germany, in 2004, 2007, 2010, and 2015, giving performances in Eisenach, Leipzig, Weimar, and Wittenberg. During the 2015 tour, the choir performed at St. George’s Church in Eisenach, Bach’s birthplace, participated as the choir in a cantata service, and presented a highly acclaimed independent concert at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.
